Video backgrounds

Use a short MP4 or WebM clip — rain on a window, a river, a city at night — as a moving background.

  1. Drop an MP4 (H.264) or WebM file, up to 24 MB and 5 minutes, on the Cast panel. It becomes a background (or a full-screen foreground if its name contains foreground or overlay).
  2. Select it to set Loop the video, Start at and Speed.
  3. Play: the clip stays in step with the scene while you scrub, and video exports seek it frame by frame.
  • Video backgrounds are silent; add music or ambience as sounds.
  • They can scroll and have a parallax distance like any background.
  • Godot and Unity exports use the clip's first frame as a still image.
  • Some browsers (Chromium on Linux, for example) can't play H.264 MP4 at all; use WebM there, or import the clip in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
