Fixes for the problems people run into most.

A character shows as a grid of frames

It's a sprite sheet that hasn't been set up yet. Select it and press Animation frames… to set its columns and rows.

“The AI Director isn’t connected on this server”

This copy of PixelStory has no AI key configured. Use Use your own AI assistant instead — it works the same way with any chatbot.

A video file can't be read

Use MP4 (H.264) or WebM. Chromium-based browsers on Linux can't decode H.264; use WebM there or import the clip from Chrome, Edge or Safari.

MP4 export isn't available

Your browser can't encode video frame by frame. Use a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari, or export WebM.

An upload is refused

Check the size limits (images 5 MB, sounds 15 MB, video 24 MB) and your plan's storage in Dashboard → Billing. Uploading the exact same file again reuses the copy you already have.

Someone disappeared behind the scenery

They're standing behind an in-scene layer's ground line. Move their feet below the green line (turn on Show depth lines), or move them to one side of the layer.
